Jim Boeheim and his Syracuse staff put a final touch on their 2016 recruiting with the transfer of fifth year senior, 6-7 Andrew White from Nebraska to The Orangemen.
He announced his decision on twitter:
“Excited to join Syracuse Basketball!” @AndrewWhite03
He chose Syracuse over VCU (his hometown school), Miami-FL, and Michigan State.
He is on his third school in college starting at Kansas, then moving to Nebraska, where he graduated this spring. He is using the 5th year graduate rule to be eligible immediately for the Orangemen.
He averaged 16.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game while shooting 41.7% from beyond the arc for Nebraska last season. He gives the Orangemen, a more than adequate replacement for Malachi Richardson who opted for the NBA. He has excellent length, range to NBA arc, and can create dribble drive or take it off the glass end to end. He will give Jim Boeheim a mature offensive talent that can step right into the void left by Richardson.
He is the third recruit this summer for the Orange who added 6-0 fifth year senior John Gillon from Colorado State to go with top one hundred recruit, 6-10 power forward Taurean Thompson from Wolfeboro, NH Brewster Academy in their 2016 class.
