Wayne Tinkle and his Oregon State staff have received a second commitment from the Thompson family, as 6-4 combo guard Ethan Thompson, from Torrance, CA Bishop Montgomery High, who will rate among the nation’s top forty in our rankings that come out next week here at The Basketball Channel.

He chose Oregon State over Syracuse, Utah, USC, and California.

Choosing Oregon State wasn’t unexpected, as his dad Steve and his brother Steve Jr. are assistant coach and current player right now at Oregon State. Plus Mom can now see both of here sons play on same night in college.

Ethan is a multi-faceted guard who can play either the point or scoring guard spot for the Beavers. He has range to the NBA arc, can create the drive or make pinpoint passes to open man. He is a good rebounder out of the back court and can thrive in a three guard set with his ability to play all three spots on the perimeter. He is an offensive weapon who will fit alongside his brother to give the Beavers a formidable long range jump shooting duo. He will push it on the break and is a solid defender at the 1,2 or 3 spots. He will remind Beaver fans of Gary Harris of the Denver Nuggets with his size and skills as a combo guard.

He is the first recruit this fall in the Oregon State Class of 2017!
