John Calipari and his Kentucky staff added one of the best shooters in the Class of 2018 with the signing of of 6’6 shooting guard Tyler Herro from Greenfield, WI Whitnall High.

“When I re-opened my recruitment, I pretty much knew a blue blood is where I wanted to go,” Herro said. “Kentucky was on my mind for a while and that’s why I committed without taking any other visits, Kentucky is where I want to be.”

He chose Kentucky over interest from Oregon, Kansas, and Villanova.

Herro is an excellent shooter with range to the NBA arc, and he has done a great job over the last year developing his ability to create his shot off the dribble which makes him a dangerous offensive weapon in the half-court game. He creates space with his jumper and has become an excellent passer off the dribble too! Many people feel he has a game similar to a young J.J. Reddick or a right handed Luke Kennard. The type of player who will complement the power game of fellow back court recruit 6-4 Keldon Johnson.

He joins two other early signees, the No.7 rated Johnson and our No.12 rated 6-2 point Immanuel Quickly in what will be a young (as always) Kentucky backcourt for the future in Lexington.
