The summer and fall events are in the books for the Class of 2017 and its time to put together our Pre-Season Top 100. It was an interesting event run, with the top spot going into the season being solidified at the Nike Summer Championships, where our new No.1 player, 6-9 Michael Porter outplayed all comers, including our No.2 rated DeAndre Ayton, in head to head completion. He flat out dominated play in the Championship rounds leading his squad to the Nike Peach Jam Championships!

As Noted above, right behind him and certainly in a position to re-claim the top spot, is the top NBA prospect in the class (per scouts we canvassed), is the 7-foot DeAndre Ayton. Make no mistake, Ayton has improved his overall effort and when he plays inside the 15-foot ring is without a doubt the best in class, but he tends to float outside a little too much and it was that tendency that makes him less than effective at times. He, like Karl Towns, is at his best around the hoop. If he takes his lead and becomes that rare dominator in that 15-foot ring he can take the top spot back.

Rounding out the top five are the trio of 6-11 athletic Phenom Mohammed Bamba, a raw offensive talent who can block shots with best in the class. He is followed by 6-4 lead guard Trevon Duval who can run the show or light you up for 30 depending on what his squad needs. While one of the top power forwards and Team USA inside stalwart Wendell Carter comes in at number five. He is a skilled big who can pop and face or roll to block and finish versus contact in the paint.

The second five is headed by the biggest mover of the summer in 6-3 Collin Sexton, a scoring lead guard, who can flat out take over a game. He like Duval can dominate with the pass or flat out light you up with his jumper. Right behind him is another talented big man duo in 6-11 Mitchell Robinson and 6-11 Brandon McCoy. Both have tools to dominate the lane and glass on both ends of the court. Rounding out the top ten are two quality guards in 6-1 point guard Trae Young, who teamed with Porter to dominate the Nike Summer Championships. Last, but certainly not least in this elite group is 6-4 power guard Hamidou Diallo who dominated offensively when we watched his NY Rens squad play this past summer.

Below is a look at how we see the best in the Class of 2017 and the solid group of “Potential Breakthroughs” that will be looking to crack the “Top 100”! So with that in mind here’s our Pre-Season look at the Class of 2017 Top 100:
