Mike Krzyzewski and his Duke staff completed a big weekend on the recruiting trail (also got top five talent Travon Duval) with the addition of 6-7 Jordan Tucker, our No.53 rated senior, from Marietta, GA Wheeler.
He chose Duke over Syracuse and Georgia.
“On my visit Coach K made me feel real comfortable,” Tucker told ESPN. “To learn from one of the greatest coaches that has have ever coached the game is going to be great. I was not guaranteed a starting position but it was made known that if I work hard I can earn starter of minutes.”
Tucker is an excellent outside shooter who will lessen the loss of Kennard, at least with his jumper from three. He has a good basketball I.Q., sees the drive or kick off the dribble and can explode to the rim if given a lane to the hoop. He is a good athlete with the foot quicks to be a good defender, but it will take some time to see that develop and put him on the floor for his ability to contribute on both ends. He is however, a good rebounder with the handle to start the break off the glass, so we expect Coach K to test him early and often to help him develop a both ends mentality to the game.
He joins Duval, 6-10 Wendell Carter, 6-5 Gary Trent Jr., 6-6 Alex O’Connell, and 5-11 Anthony Goldwire in the Duke class of
