Dave Leitao and his DePaul staff received a big boost in building for the future with the commitment of 5-11 point guard, Tyger Campbell, our No.22 rated sophomore, from La Porte, IN La Lumiere Academy.

“Their sell was they were honest with me,” Campbell told ESPN. “They haven’t had some great seasons in the past. They want me to come in and be the guy. Lead the team, bring DePaul basketball back.”

He chose DePaul over Michigan State, UNLV, Tennessee and Alabama.

Another reason that Campbell chose La Lumiere, is the fact that DePaul hired his coach at La Lumiere Shane Heirman as an assistant coach.

Campbell is a gifted ball handler and passer who has the tools to run the show or step out and make plays when the offense breaks down. He has range to the arc and a knack for attacking off the dribble and reading whether to score or kick. He has led La Lumiere to the Dick’s crown with a 70-52 victory over defending champ Montverde Academy. That is the reason that Campbell is a key to DePaul’s future, he is a winner!

He is looking to structure his classes this coming year to be able to move up and graduate early and become part of the Class of 2018, so stay tuned on that to see if that opportunity develops!
