Andy Enfield and his USC staff have added a huge piece for the future with the commitment of 6-9 power forward Onyeka Okongwu, our No.12 rated junior, from Chino Hill, CA High
He announced his decision at his high school on Monday, and sited the fact that he was comfortable with the staff, (which includes his former AAU with the Compton Magic Eric Mobley), players, and direction of the program.
He chose USC over UCLA and Kansas his other finalists.
He is the first Compton Magic player to commit to USA, but both 2019 Isaiah Mobley and 2020 Evan Mobley are expected to follow their father to USC.
Okongwu is a long and physical rebounder who can dominate the glass and be a rim protector on defense. He has really improved his offensive game and become a threat to pop to the elbow and knock down jumper of attack the hoop off the dribble. He uses his body and length on the blocks to score with either hand and will give the Trojans a go to guy on in the paint. He is a huge addition for Enfield as he continues to build a contender in the Pac 12!
