Steve Alford and his UCLA staff received another quality So Cal recruit in 6’6 wing guard Jaime Jaquez, our No.55 rated junior, from Camarillo, CA.

Jaquez is an excellent handler and shooter who has a nose for scoring the basketball from the perimeter or off the dribble attacking the hoop. He grew up in Southern California and felt that UCLA had all the things he wanted in a program.

“They have great tradition,” Jaquez said. “I grew up with their program, know the quality of players in the program and feel I will fit in their style of play.”

He has a high basketball I.Q. can run the break in a pinch and really has a knack for creating separation off the dribble and getting open shot or attacking the rim. He is more than a scorer as he averages over 8 rebounds a game and isn’t afraid to “D” you up. He gives 100% on both ends irregardless of whether the shot is falling and will find ways to help the Bruins from day one. He should help out from day one and give the Bruins a versatile perimeter talent who can contribute at two or three spots.

He joins 6-4 Grant Sherfield and 6-5 Jake Kyman in the Bruins fast start in the Class of 2019!
