Steve Alford and his UCLA staff kept one of the West Coast’s best home with the commitment of Jules Bernard, our No.35 rated senior, from Los Angeles, CA Winward Academy and the Compton Magic.
He chose UCLA over Kansas, Oregon, Miami and USC.
One of the top offensive talents in the country, 6-5 swing man Jules Bernard has decided to stay close to home and play in the Bruins up-tempo type offensive game. Bernard is a true three zone scorer with range to the NBA arc who can create drive and pull-up or finish at the rim with highlight dunks over bigs! He has created more than a few oozes and ahs from crowds while playing summer ball for the Compton Magic. He has also developed the ability to guard all three perimeter spots with efficiency using his length, quick hands and feet to stymie opponents ability to get into the paint.
He will give the Bruins an immediate lift on both ends of the court playing defense, crashing the glass, and knocking down shots. He has a little of Kelly Oubre in his game, but may be a better defender and decision maker heading into college, so he has a high ceiling that will bring NBA scouts early and often to Westwood.
He joins high scoring shooting guard David Singleton in the UCLA Class of 2018
