Shaka Smart and his Texas staff have added a quality big man in 6-9 Jericho Sims from Minneapolis, MN Cristo Rey Charter School, a top one hundred prospect with a great body and motor that translates immediately as a frosh in the Big 12!

“The coaches were basically with me a lot of the time, they cared me about me and really wanted me. They really like me as a person. I’m their main guy!” Sims said. “As a program, it related to me the most!”

He chose Texas over Minnesota, Kansas, and Ohio State.

This 220-pound low block scorer and shot blocker is extremely long, athletic and mobile. He runs the floor extremely well can hit face-up jumper as a trailer on the break or roll to the block and finish through contact. He has nice touch in the lane and can face and create drive on opposing bigs. He can defend the ball on baseline in the Texas press and is an excellent help side shot blocker. Throw in the fact that he has a great motor and you have a proto-type power man for Coach Smart’s system. He will contribute from day one with the Horns!

He joins 6-8 face-up big, Royce Hamm, in the Texas Class of 2017.
