Frank Martin and his South Carolina staff have landed some much needed help at the point guard spot with the signing of 6’2 Georgetown grad Tre Campbell!
Campbell who averaged 3.6 points a game and almost two assists for Georgetown will give the Gamecocks immediate depth at the point position, something that was really needed since the dismissal of expected starter Rakym Felder last month.
Don’t let the numbers totally fool you, Campbell was coming back off a knee injury suffered in a bus accident while the Hoyas were on a road trip to Villanova.
He looks at the chance to join the Gamecocks as an opportunity to “Prove his doubters wrong!”
That definitely is the type of player attitude that makes Frank Martin smile, and with another six months to rehab and learn the Gamecocks system, he might make him smile all season long in Columbia.
