Oklahoma State’s new Coach Mike Boynton and his Cowboys’ staff added a big piece for the future with the addition of Miami-Ohio transfer, 6-2 freshman point guard Mike Weathers.

“Just felt like it was the right situation for me and my family,” Weathers told ESPN, “and felt like Coach Boynton made it feel like home and comfortable enough to where I can ultimately achieve my goal.”

Weathers, the Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year, chose Oklahoma State over interest from Nevada, Arkansas, Xavier and Miami (FL).

He averaged 16.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists last season at Miami-Ohio and was considered one of the top talents in the MAC. He is an excellent ball handler and passer who can run the break or break down opponents in the half-court and has a good enough stroke from deep to keep the defense honest. He will have to sit out the next year at OSU on a red-shirt, but will have up to three years eligibility in Stillwater starting in the fall of 2018!

He is the first key recruit for Boynton and his staff as they look to re-load and re-build the Cowboys.
