John Calipari and his Kentucky staff may have put a stranglehold on the nation’s top recruiting class for 2017 with the commitment today of 6-5 scoring guard Hamidou Diallo, our No.10 rated senior, who has been attending Our Lady of Angelus school in Rego Park, NY.

He held a news conference at the school and announced he would be enrolling early at Kentucky for the second semester.

“Next week, I will be attending the University of Kentucky,” He announced!

He will not be playing this year, and will wait until next fall, according to all sources, to step on the court officially for the Wildcats.

He chose Kentucky over Connecticut, Arizona, Syracuse, Indiana, and Kansas.

Diallo is an explosive slasher and driver who attacks the rim with a vengeance, fearing no one off the dribble once he enters the paint! He has a solid mid-range jumper that allows him to freeze the defense off the move, and is improving as a long range threat. He averaged 19 points and almost 6 rebounds for the NY Rens on the EYBL circuit and showed he can make plays on defensive end that translate into him becoming a play maker on both ends or the court.

He joins the No.1 Class in the country that features four other top 25 talents; 6-8 power forward P.J. Washington (No. 15), 6-7 forward Jarred Vanderbilt (No. 19), 6-0 point guard Quade Green (No. 20), and 6-11 center Nick Richards (No. 21), along with 6-5 guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (No. 51). A Class that now seems destined to hold onto the No.1 spot in recruiting this spring.
