John Calipari and his Kentucky staff continued to add talent to their No.1 rated recruiting class with the addition of former Cal signee Jemarl Baker from Eastvale, CA Roosevelt.

“Jemarl has decided to sign with Kentucky,” Ryan Silver, his summer coach with the West Coast Elite said. “Jemarl feels it gives him the best opportunity to succeed and reach his goals in basketball.”

He re-opened his recruitment after Cuonzo Martin decided to leave California for Missouri. He chose Kentucky over interest from Oregon, Marquette, Arizona, Maryland and Utah.

Baker, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard, is the nation’s No.61 rated senior heading into our final rankings update, and has the tools to score from three to the rim. He has solid ball skills, can run the break in transition or break down defenders one-on-one. He will give depth to the ‘Cats perimeter game and could be a big-time scorer in Kentucky’s offense.

He joins four top twenty-five prospects, 6-11 Nick Richards, 6-8 P.J. Washington. 6-8 Jarred Vanderbilt, and 6-1 Quade Green, along with 6-5 top fifty talent Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the current recruiting class. Plus 6-5 Hamidou Diallo, a red-shirting first semester frosh who rated among the nations top fifteen prior to enrolling the second semester in another very deep group of freshmen in Lexington.
